ROTOR is an immersive experiment by Radugadesign, exploring wave propagation and its impact on perception. A rotating mechanism moves sound sources, creating a unique sensory experience for each viewer.
Development began in 2018, with the key challenge being the creation of a custom-engineered motor. In 2022, the prototype was successfully tested at an art residency in Nizhny Novgorod, organized by TSEH space and dreamlaser studio, confirming the concept’s viability.
The sound compositions for ROTOR are independent experimental pieces. Live performances by Alexander Zaripov, Alexander Vasilenko, Maxim Silenkov, Leeza Shumova, and other musicians offered unique interpretations of the installation.
ROTOR generates 360° audiovisual content through an LED rod, which can be tracked in real time on mobile devices. The system also records key parameters, including BPM, engine temperature, sound waves, and rotation speed.
