Circadian dreams

Installation, Immersive Environment
2026
Circadian Dreams is an immersive audiovisual experience created by radugadesign in collaboration with composer Alexander Vasilenko for the “Architecture for People” festival at the Moscow Museum.

Inspired by psychoacoustic experiments of the 1970s-80s and the legendary Dreamachine by William S. Burroughs and Brion Gysin, the project reinterprets these ideas through contemporary media technologies.

Combining meditation, psychoacoustics, and multimedia technologies, the project explores the effects of binaural rhythms and light stimulation on human perception. The 12-minute session is experienced with closed eyes and headphones: participants perceive projections through their eyelids while binaural rhythms gently guide them through three mental states – Δ, θ, and α – from deep relaxation to calm focus.

The installation was presented in a dedicated pavilion featuring a six-person seating structure, individual headphones, and a projection system designed to create an isolated environment for a collective meditative experience.
